Heat Keepers is a local small business seeking dedicated staff to provide contracting services while improving the energy efficiency and comfort of homes. Typical improvements include adding insulation, air-sealing, minor home repairs, health/safety measures, and some carpentry in line with the NYSERDA Empower+ program—a great way to give back to the community.
Salary: $20-23 per hour
Service Area & Work Locations: Essex, Franklin, Clinton, Northern Hamilton, and Eastern St. Lawrence Counties (Full or Part time depending on Auditor’s experience, and amount of supervision required. This position can be done remotely once auditor is capable).
Job Description: Energy Auditor works to implement NYSERDA Empower+ program by contacting leads through NYERSDA’s online portal and scheduling an in-person home visit to perform the energy assessment. Energy Auditor will collect information about the candidate to qualify them for the program. The home energy assessment is done in accordance with NYSERDA’s program standards and includes energy education, measurements, heating system testing, blower door testing, and additional forms of data collection/recording. After this assessment, candidate will use NYSERDA’s online portal to input data for energy modeling, which creates a work scope about which improvements are most cost-effective and the best use for each resident’s allowed budget. Once approved, this is passed on to the production team to be implemented.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
Required to access tight spaces to observe the conditions in them. Be on ladders. Use tools to open access hatches. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Use computer skills such as portal navigation, data-entry, emailing, and printing.
Make appointments with program applicants in a timely manner.
Must have own vehicle to attend site visits and meet with supervisor
Qualifications:
Building Performance Institute (BPI) certifications
Valid driver license and vehicle (required)
1 year or equivalent of renovation experience
1 year home performance experience (preferred)
Skills:
Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, crews, supervisors, etc.
Knowledge of home systems, building science, and relevant codes
Working technical knowledge of materials associated with weatherization retrofits
Mathematical skills to determine weatherization related calculations
Ability to use tools of the trade and basic knowledge and sense of adequate materials and installation standards
