Get An Energy Audit for your Business
If your business location needs energy upgrades but you’re unsure of where to start, there are three valuable opportunities for building assessments currently available.
Green Jobs – Green New York Energy Study provides a comprehensive energy study of your building following a site visit and an analysis of your current energy usage. A nominal fee depends on the number of full-time equivalent employees and the size of your building. Small commercial and not-for-profit organizations qualify.
The FlexTech Program, another energy study option, is great for businesses with multiple buildings and/or are larger in size. Commercial, industrial, institutional, and multifamily facilities are eligible to apply. FlexTech provides an in-depth energy assessment and a report with detailed project and measure summaries, economic analysis, and additional benefits associated with upgrades. This program provides a cost share of 50%-100%.
Through the Agriculture Energy Audit Program, NYSERDA will identify energy efficiency measures for eligible farms and on-farm producers, including but not limited to: dairies, orchards, greenhouses, vegetables, vineyards, grain dryers, and poultry/egg.
NYSERDA has additional programs and incentives specific to NYS farms.

If you know what upgrades your business needs or have just completed an energy assessment, there are several options to help lower the cost of upgrades.
Energy Efficiency
Small businesses in rural areas and farms may qualify for 25% grant funding for energy efficiency improvements through the USDA Rural Energy for America Program. To receive more guidance on these types of programs, please visit AG Energy New York.
There are also rebates and incentives for small businesses and nonprofit organizations available through National Grid and NYSEG for energy efficiency upgrades. Note that in order to access incentives, the business must work with a contractor who is participating in the program.
